So, if you didn’t hear about this already, last year Converge recorded a couple of songs for a split 7” with Napalm Death. One original, the brief but solidly ripping “No Air Escapes,” and one cover. That cover would be “Wolverine Blues,” originally by Entombed, from the album of the same name. I don’t think I’m being terribly hyperbolic when I say that “Wolverine Blues” is one of the BEST METAL SONGS OF ALL TIME. I knew that Converge had covered it before in a couple of live settings (at least once with Himsa’s John Pettibone on guest vocals, and another time just last December in Stockholm with none other than Entombed’s L.G. Petrov himself) so I was pretty psyched to get my hands on a recorded version. They treat the music pretty faithfully, but split the vocals between not only Jacob, Nate and Kurt, but also Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates, Disfear, etc), Aaron Turner (Isis, OMG, Jodis, Hydra Head, etc), and Kevin Baker (The Hope Conspiracy, All Pigs Must Die). I didn’t think it could get much radder until Converge released Pound For Pound: The Wolverine Blues Sessions, featuring five different versions of the song, each featuring only one of the vocalists per take. Check ‘em out. Headbang, rinse and repeat until desired result is reached.

Listen/purchase: Pound For Pound: The Wolverine Blues Sessions by Converge

To be clear, our cover was already released on our split 7”EP with Napalm Death. This is from those sessions, thanks.
